  • Sports Day Information 2023

    Fri 09 Jun 2023

Sports Day and Family Picnic – Tuesday 27th June 2023

    Dear Parents and Carers,

Our school sports day will be held on the morning of Tuesday 27th June. The children will be taking part in a range of sports activities, led by CM Sports where they will be able to earn points for their house team.  Should we experience inclement weather, a Scopay message will be sent to parents and carers by 8:30am.  The reserve Sports Day date is Tuesday 4th July.

    Arrangements for the Day

    • Children will be registered in their classes as normal.
    • At 9:20am, the main gates will open for parents who would like to observe.  Our house captains will be pleased to direct you to the top field where the events will take place.

Please be aware that while shade will be available for the children, it can be limited for the outer areas of the field where parents will be positioned.  Chairs will be set up for parents and carers to watch the races, however there will also be a carousel of activities and you are welcome to walk around the outside of these to see your child competing.

If you wish to take pictures of your child, please can you make sure that you take pictures of just them and do not post any pictures on social media where other children might be visible.

We anticipate that the events will finish at approximately 12:00pm.

Following on from this, we would be delighted if you could join us for a family picnic from 12:00 – 12:45.

    • The children will be seated in their classes at the start of the lunchtime.
    • You can collect your child from there and find an area to sit for lunch, hopefully with other families and children.
    • Please bring your own picnic blankets for this.  We request that only soft drinks are brought along, and due to allergies, please do not bring in any products containing nuts.
    • Children will still have the opportunity to order a school lunch on this day but they will be able to take this to the field as the kitchen will be preparing picnic lunches on that day.
    • The children will then be registered in classes and are permitted to leave with you, if you wish, after 12:45.  Children will not be permitted to leave prior to this.
    • There is no expectation that children have to leave at this time, and those remaining in school will take part in a range of activities during the afternoon.
    • After-school club will be open as usual.

Please send your child to school with a water bottle, hat, and sun cream (name labelled) that they can apply themselves.  It is vital that the children keep themselves hydrated so they may wish to bring a second bottle of water on the day.  Pupils are also permitted to bring banners to support their house team if they wish.

If your child suffers from hay fever and may find that sitting on the grass aggravates their condition, they may bring a small blanket or cushion to sit on.

We look forward to welcoming you at our Sports Day event, and celebrating the children’s sporting achievements with you.

Thank you for your continued support.

    Ms Kate Lawrence

    Headteacher

  • Park & Stride Initiative Launched

    Thu 07 Apr 2022

As you may be aware, the school is working very hard to try to reduce congestion at the school gates. We hope that by doing this, the school gates will be a safer place, thus enabling more parents to walk their children to school.

We understand that not all children are able to walk the whole way to school, due to distance, parental work commitments or a variety of other reasons. One way in which we hope to help you is by setting up a Park and Stride scheme. This is a simple initiative, where parents/carers are encouraged to park their car (no more than) a 10 minute walk from school and then walk the rest of the way with their children.

We are therefore asking parents to park at Peel Park (look out for our Park and Stride banner- see image below) and walk the rest of the way to school. If for some reason this is not a suitable parking place we encourage you to choose another suitable place 10 minutes away from the school gates and walk the rest of the way.

If you have any queries regarding the Park and Stride parking point, please don’t hesitate to come in and speak to the office.

  • School Closure - Red Weather Alert

    Fri 18 Feb 2022

We have received notification from Hampshire County Council that the Met Office Weather Warning has been upgraded to a red alert - threat to life.  School will therefore be closed today.

Children can complete chosen activities on our learning platforms of Purple Mash, SATs companion (Years 5 & 6), Times Table Rockstars, Mathletics and Readiwriter.

The school office will be unmanned today however if you have a safeguarding concern, please email that admin office email which will be checked periodically throughout the day.

Please stay safe and take care.  Have a restful, relaxing half term.

  • After School Clubs Spring 2

    Fri 11 Feb 2022

We are writing to inform you of the clubs that we will be offering after half-term February half term.  Due to the current Omicron variant, clubs will be restricted to specific year groups at this time.  If you would like to sign up for a club, please do so via Scopay.

Clubs for Years 3 and 5 will begin at 3:20pm and finish at 4:20pm, clubs for Years 4 and 6 will begin at 3:30pm and finish at 4:30pm.  Children should be collected from the hall doors at their finish time.  As the school crossing patrol is not in place at the finish time, children must be collected rather than leave site alone.  Alternatively, if your child is booked onto After-School Club on the club day, they will be taken to this once the club has finished.  We anticipate that the clubs will be popular and if they are full, we will run them again next term for different children.

CM Sports’ sports clubs and Year 6 booster sessions will continue to run as usual.

*Pupils currently attending these clubs will be carried forward to next half-term.
