The School Day

Our School Day

At Clanfield Junior School, we know that a smooth and positive start to the day helps children feel calm, focused and ready to learn. Our school day runs from 8:55am – 3:25pm, but our morning routines are carefully designed to support families and make sure every child begins the day with a smile.

8:30–8:40am – Wake Up and Shake Up!

We know mornings can be busy, so we offer a free drop-off session in the school hall to make life that little bit easier for families. Children can come and join our “Wake Up and Go” session — a fun, energetic dance party to get hearts pumping and minds switched on for learning. It’s also a lovely way to meet friends and start the day on a positive note!

  • Drop-off: Breakfast Club gate at 8:30am

  • Car park gates close: 8:35am

  • No booking needed — just come along and join in!

8:35am – Playground gates Open

Our playground gates open and children enjoy a few calm, social minutes before the whistle. This short time helps children connect with their friends and gently transition into the school day. Staff are on duty throughout, offering a friendly face and a listening ear.
A member of our Senior Leadership Team is always at the gate if you need to pass on a message or have a quick chat.

8:45am – The Whistle Blows

Children head to their classrooms, ready for the day ahead.

8:50am – Playground Gate Closes

Anyone arriving after this time should sign in via the main office.

8:55am – Morning Register Closes

We aim to start lessons promptly so that every minute of learning counts!

Our Daily Routine

  • Morning session: 9:00am – 12:00pm

  • Afternoon session: 1:00pm – 3:25pm

End of the Day

At 3:25pm, teachers bring their classes out to the playground for collection.
This is a great chance to say a quick hello or pass on a short message. If you’d like a longer chat, please contact the office to arrange a time that suits you.

Children may walk home independently or with siblings — please speak to the office to complete a permission form.
