Clanfield Rangers
Clanfield Rangers: Champions of the Great Outdoors
Our exciting Clanfield Rangers volunteering programme has truly transformed how our children see the Great Outdoors and the important role we all play in caring for our environment. Each Ranger has taken their responsibilities very seriously, learning about sustainability and the principles of Permaculture ethics, while also sharing their new knowledge with others across the school. You can spot them proudly wearing their green Ranger jumpers, making them easy to identify as our eco-leaders!
We’ve been incredibly lucky to have strong support from Rachel at PeCAN, who has delivered inspiring workshops for our Rangers on topics such as litter picking, carbon capturing, abundance counts, and pond dipping. These sessions have given our Rangers practical skills and a deep understanding of how small actions can make a big difference.
The Rangers have already made a huge impact across the school. They recently led a whole-school assembly about litter, plastics, and sustainability — sparking enthusiasm and awareness among all pupils. As a result, more children now join in with lunchtime litter picks, build bug hotels, and look for new ways to protect our school environment.
Thanks to their feedback, we even have new litter bins installed in our field area — a small but meaningful change driven entirely by the Rangers’ initiative and care for our school community.
We couldn’t be prouder of their efforts, leadership, and growing passion for protecting the planet! 🌍💚
Our next challenge is to create an allotment with the Local Parish Gardeners, along with our new nature cabin!
