Pupil volunteering roles
Our children LOVE to contribute to school life and our wider community- it helps to create a strong sense of belonging for every child.
Key roles:
House captains | Year 6 children can be elected to be in charge of our Houses, and will have duties specific to this role. |
School councillors | Each class can elect a school councillor to take part in school council meetings, driving change across the school and meeting influential people. Interested pupils can present to their class reasons for being voted in, followed by a democratic vote. This year they will be looking at school uniform, SMART phones and designing a trim trail! |
Clanfield Rangers
|
Year 5 of 2024 were the first ever Rangers at CJS, and are now in year 6 ready to train up the next batch! You will notice them easily in their green Ranger jumpers. 7-8 Year 5s will have the chance to apply for this role, and will be involved in increasing biodiversity, looking after the grounds and improving the outdoor spaces. |
Community Officers | Anyone can apply for this role as they will be added to our community data base. Different activities take place throughout the year, such as visits to Swallow court or Sunny Smiles nursery, and a range of Community Officers are selected to take part. This is perfect for children who love to help others! |
Assembly Prefects | A new role for 2025- 1 child per class can be elected for 1 half term to help monitor the fantastic behaviour in assembly, using the prefect guidance and scoring bands. |
Buddies | A new role for 2025- children can be signed up to buddy up with other year groups or new children. |
Librarians | Each class has a librarian to help sort books, the book corner, return books and organise the library. This is a developing role and we are hoping to visit Waterlooville library too! |
Play leaders | Year 6 are trained up in the Autumn term to help organise and run games at lunch times, as well as be responsible for the equipment. |
Tuck shop helpers | Upper key stage pupils can volunteer to help run the break time tuck shop. |
Junior Road Safety Officers | Any child can apply to be a JRSO, working closely with Mrs Moakes to help keep our pupils safe. We are Platinum Award winners! |
Daily life roles:
There is a huge list of available roles that children can ask to take part in. Often, children suggest new ideas, and have recently asked to organise the corridors, water indoor plants and be early morning greeters for children who find it overwhelming at school drop off. A few examples of school life roles include:
- Table monitors
- Assembly helpers
- Plant monitors
- Lost property monitors
- Class librarians
- Litter pickers
