Extra sporting Opportunities
Sporting Opportunities at Clanfield Junior School
At Clanfield Junior School, we believe sport is about much more than physical activity — it’s about teamwork, confidence, resilience, and fun! We’ve worked hard to raise the profile of sport across the school, ensuring every child can take part, challenge themselves, and discover new passions.
Children enjoy a rich variety of PE lessons, tournaments, and enrichment opportunities, helping them develop new skills and a love for being active. We’re proud to have taken part in a wide range of local sporting events and competitions, from Dodgeball and cricket festivals to multi-sport tournaments — and even paddle boarding!

Mr Chant and Mrs Moakes took ten Year 3 pupils to Winchester to take part in the Hampshire School Games. These girls got to take part in four fabulous events: silent disco, circus skills, inflatables, and create your own game. The girls participating in the create-your-own-game faced off against four other schools and successfully won a small competition, earning us a brand new box of playground equipment.
Pop up pool
At Clanfield Junior School, we deliver our swimming lessons in the Summer Term using the fantastic Swim:ED pop-up pool provided by ActiveMe 360. Year 5 receive the core offer, but all children are offered the chance to take part in this fantastic opportunity.

'I just love that we have a pool at school!'
'I love that they have floaties and noodles to help me'
'I love that the teachers help me when I was a bit nervous. Now I'm not nervous.'
We have also built in enrichment opportunities such as a paddleboarding, and reshaped our school trips to include a visit to the Andrew Simpson Centre to practise our water safety skills!
Our team made a sensational debut at the biggest event of the year, bringing home the Gold Football Tournament trophy! Huge congratulations to our amazing players. Our Silver Team also showed great determination in a home fixture against Queens Enclosure, securing a well earned 1–1 draw. We also had a nail-biting 7–5 match in the Hampshire Plate against Freegrounds Junior, with the team showing huge spirit throughout. The children have represented CJS with pride, passion and our values of kindness, resilience and respect. They have truly shone this term. More fixtures are on the way — and we can’t wait!
Some of our children took part in another football tournament- and we won a trophy for “Our Spirit of the Games winners”. The organisers reported that Clanfield showed exceptional team spirit, which reflects our school values.
