Year 6 Local Artist Visit
As evidenced by our fabulous clay lizard outcomes, Year 6 have been working very hard on developing their skills in using the medium of clay.
To continue this journey and further enrich the learning experience of the children, the Year 6 team organised a visit from local artist, Hollie Thornley. During the session, she inspired the children to explore creating different patterns and demonstrated how to use precision when crafting with clay. As a school that loves the environment, she showed us how we can use natural resources in order to aid us with our clay work and the children included elements of nature in their tiles.
We then put all of the tiles together to make the final design. A fabulous piece of art to celebrate teamwork.
Karl, the leader of the experience, emailed Mrs Dawkins and the Year 6 team with the following feedback, "I just wanted to a say a special thank you for having us in today, all your pupils are wonderfully polite, friendly and engaged really well with the session led by our artist Hollie Thornley. We both had a great time."
Well done Year 6 - we are so proud of you for showing the CJS values!
