Chinese New Year
Year 6 showed high levels of curiosity and respect as they learnt all about Chinese New Year. Some children were even inspired to do their own research!
Over the week, the children completed a number of activities, including making lanterns, where they learnt that they symbolise good fortune and the hope for a prosperous year. They also worked step-by-step to draw some epic dragons. Did you know that the dragon is one of China’s most important cultural symbols and represents power, good fortune and wisdom? We gazed at some stunning photos of cherry blossoms in China and then were inspired to create our own artwork. Finally, the children had great fun learning some choreography in a dance workshop complete with fans, parasols and even a dragon! The children have shown such enthusiasm, and we hope parents and carers have enjoyed looking at their work.
