Grab and Go Muffins

As part of our commitment to becoming an allergy-aware school, Year 6 recently took part in a DT cooking project where they designed and made muffins with inclusivity in mind.

The brief: to design a new range of on-the-go muffins for our tuck shop that everyone can enjoy.

The children were challenged to ensure their muffins:

  • were safe for people with at least one allergy (for example, dairy or eggs),

  • still tasted delicious, and

  • included healthy ingredients to make them a good breakfast choice.

The children really enjoyed the discussions around allergens and food choices and had a fantastic time cooking their muffins. It was wonderful to see them learning how thoughtful design can help include everyone while still being fun and tasty!
