Chinese New Year celebrations
Our school was filled with excitement, colour and togetherness as we proudly celebrated Chinese New Year for the very first time as a whole-school event — and what an unforgettable day it was! Classrooms were transformed into busy workshops where pupils explored traditional Chinese art:
-
Beautiful Chinese character writing
-
Bright lantern making
-
Imaginative dragon mask creations
The school glowed with red decorations, and everyone — staff and children alike — dressed in red to bring good luck and happiness for the year ahead.
A highlight of the day was our energetic dragon dancing masterclass. The children learnt traditional movements, worked together in teams and proudly performed using real dragon props. The hall was alive with laughter, music and the rhythmic movement of the dragons as confidence grew with every practice!
We were also lucky to have Leo share his knowledge by teaching some of our pupils simple Mandarin words and phrases. This gave the children a meaningful insight into another language and culture, helping them appreciate the rich diversity in our community.
Parents joined us to share the experience, admire the children’s artwork and celebrate together. The atmosphere throughout the day was warm, welcoming and joyful — a true reflection of our school spirit. We ended the celebration feeling incredibly proud. The day wasn’t just about learning facts; it was about understanding, belonging and being a happy school family.
Xin Nian Kuai Le — Happy New Year! 🧧
