Pupil volunteering roles
Pupil Volunteering and Belonging at Clanfield Junior School 🤝💚
Our children LOVE to contribute to school life and to the wider community — it helps build a strong sense of belonging and pride in being part of Clanfield Junior School. We believe that when children take an active role in shaping their school, they grow in confidence, responsibility, and empathy.
Across the year, pupils have the chance to take on a range of volunteering and leadership roles that make a real difference. These include Clanfield Rangers, School Councillors, Play Leaders, Digital Leaders, Reading Ambassadors, Assembly Prefects, House Captains and more! Each role gives children a meaningful way to contribute to daily school life, support others, and make improvements that everyone can see and enjoy.
These opportunities are closely linked to our school vision of creating strong, positive relationships within our school and the wider community. By working together, our children learn that every voice matters and that small actions can make a big impact.
Through these roles, pupils not only develop important life skills — such as teamwork, communication, and resilience — but also experience the joy of helping others and giving back. Whether they are leading games on the playground, tending to the garden, or representing their peers, our children show what it truly means to belong, contribute, and care. 🌿✨
Key roles:
| Year 6 children can be elected to be in charge of our Houses, and will have duties specific to this role. | |
| Each class can elect a school councillor to take part in school council meetings, driving change across the school and meeting influential people. Interested pupils can present to their class reasons for being voted in, followed by a democratic vote. This year they will be looking at school uniform, SMART phones and designing a trim trail! | |

Year 5 of 2024 were the first ever Rangers at CJS, and are now in year 6 ready to train up the next batch! You will notice them easily in their green Ranger jumpers. Each year, another Year 5s will have the chance to apply for this role, and will be involved in increasing biodiversity, looking after the grounds and improving the outdoor spaces. |
