Clanfield Rangers
This exciting new volunteering role has transformed our children's outlook on the Great Outdoors and our part to play in looking after the environment. Each Ranger has taken their responsibilities very seriously and not only learnt a lot about sustainability and some of the permaculture ethics, but also taught other children about these too. They wear green Ranger jumpers so that they are easily identifiable.
We have had strong support from Rachel at PeCAN who has led several training workshops for the Rangers, including litter picking, carbon capturing, abundance counts and pond dipping. The Rangers led a whole school assembly where they taught children about litter, plastics and sustainability. Their impact has been huge- children regularly take part in litter picking during lunch times and bug hotels are always being created across the grounds. We now have new litter bins as the Rangers felt there were not enough in the field area.
Our next challenge is to create an allotment with the Local Parish Gardeners, along with hopefully a new outdoor cabin!
